European Mounts

BRODAX offers quality European Mounts. Because of today’s economy, many hunters cannot afford the high prices of shoulder mounting an animal and are deciding to show off their trophies through more economical means. Skull mounts are a terrific center piece for conversation and break from the norm. With the skull mount you get from BRODAX you will never have to worry about poor taxidermy work or the hair slipping from a tanned hide. Your skull will be completely cleaned of any tissue other than bone and will remain picture perfect longer than you will.

Our cleaning and whitening techniques ensure that your skull will look naturally white (not the fake painted skulls most taxidermist produce). Whether you are looking for a new and cheaper way to show off you trophy or want to give your friend or loved one a gift, we can do it for you. So, get those animals out of your freezer that have been in there for years and whose hides are frost bitten so bad you can’t mount them anymore, and let us get them on your wall or desk to be shown off. We also have skulls available for purchase which make great holiday presents or co-worker gifts if you know an outdoor enthusiast. We can make your trophy into a business card holder or brochure holder for your clients to gawk at, or a knife holder for that family heirloom that you want to display. Old skulls can be re-cleaned to give them a fresh look.

The process

Skulls are first stripped of the hide and as much meat as possible. They are then placed in an atrium of a hot colony of Dermestid Beetles that completely eliminate all soft tissues leaving only bone. After a skull is completely void of soft tissue, it is then boiled with a soft detergent to wash and clean dirt or particles out of the inner parts of the skull. The skull is then soaked in a degreaser if needed for up to 2 to 3 weeks. After the skull is purged of fat and soft tissue it is then whitened with a peroxide gel for 1 week in order to give it a natural look and is not subjected to any caustic solutions such as bleach which will break the skull down over time causing it to flake away or fall apart. The skull is then set in the sun in order to brighten it and give you the final product. Skulls can be shipped to your doorstep. We do not paint our skulls white unless requested because we feel it makes the skull look fake. Most taxidermists do this because they cannot completely clean or whiten the skull like we can. They are just covering up an incomplete job.
